On the Rocks is Victoria Cheri and Karl Saint Lucy, New York-based performers and collaborators doing original songs and covers from their diverse spectrum of influences, from Judy Garland to Florence + the Machine.

Victoria and Karl met in high school choir in 2001, when Victoria was lanky and Karl was straight. Soon after, they helmed a student-led production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown! that gave Houston community theatre a run for its money; of course, it only made sense that they should get their act together and take it to New York.

Songs from Centenary Street went up at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre as their first act together in the city, followed closely by Life is Not a Musical at 54 Below, where they were joined by Nick Cearley of The Skivvies (sadly, fully clothed).

Victoria and Karl take dirty laundry to the stage for a good communal scrub-down. Whether it's lamenting the trick from last night or hoping for tomorrow's treat,

they riff on their present exploits with a wink, a smile, and a sensible jazz hand here or there.

With the help of brassy players and brazen singers, they offer in one moment a bossa nova Lerner and Loewe; in the next, an a cappella Destiny's Child--shaken or stirred, their audience can always expect to be served On the Rocks.
